How Seawall blocks ads on Android, iPhone and your computer
Seawall is an ad-blocking DNS. Every app and website first asks DNS where to find a server, and Seawall won’t hand out the addresses of ad and tracking servers. The banner never loads because there is nowhere to load it from.
Connect Seawall.
Add your Seawall address in the settings of your phone, computer or router. On iPhone and Mac, install a profile.
Seawall checks every request.
Requests to ad networks, trackers and scam sites are blocked; everything else goes through as usual.
The ads disappear.
Fewer banners in browsers, apps and games, faster pages, and trackers stop collecting data.

Your account
Everything Seawall blocks, in one place
See how many requests each device sends to ad and tracking servers. If a site breaks, allow it or pause protection for 10 minutes.
- Statistics per device. Blocked requests and the services your devices really talk to.
- Allow and block lists. Keep a site open or block it everywhere with one switch.
- Pause in one tap. Turn filtering off for 10 minutes when a page needs it.
- All devices in one place. Phones, computers, TVs and routers, each with its own name.
For families
Parental controls without an app
There’s nothing for your child to uninstall: Seawall works as a family DNS, so you don’t need a parental controls app for Android or iPhone. The rules live in DNS, and you change them from your own account.
- A profile for each child. Presets for little kids, kids and teens, and a separate profile for adults.
- Adult sites blocked. Porn, gambling and other adult sites won’t open.
- Safe search. Google, Bing and YouTube run in safe mode, and it can’t be switched off in search settings.
- Schedules. For example, no games or social media after 10 pm.
- Block services in one tap. TikTok, games, social networks: turn off whatever you choose.

Works away from home
The rules follow your child’s phone on mobile data and any Wi-Fi, not only on your home network.
Harder to get around
Seawall blocks known proxy services and other known DNS providers. Screen Time on iPhone limits what your child can change, and Seawall on your router keeps your home network filtered even if the phone’s settings change. Step by step in the FAQ.
For business
DNS filtering for offices and branches
A DNS filtering service for offices and branches. Web filtering, phishing protection and ad blocking work for the whole network, and each office keeps its own rules and statistics.
- A profile per office. HQ, warehouse, a branch in another city: separate rules and exceptions.
- Phishing protection. Works as a DNS firewall: staff can’t open a fake bank or email login page.
- Per-office statistics. Blocked requests and the services your team really uses. You decide whether to keep a query log and for how long.
- No app needed. Set DNS once on the office router. Laptops outside the office use a profile.
14 days for one office. We set it up with you.

What Seawall knows about your DNS queries
Any DNS server sees the names of the sites your devices connect to. We use them only to filter. The query log is off by default and only you can turn it on. We don’t sell data and we don’t show ads.

Ad blocking FAQ
How do I stop pop-up ads on my Android phone?
Turn on Private DNS with your Seawall address in Android settings. Ads from ad networks stop loading in every app at once. If ads pop up on top of your home screen, that is adware: find the app among recently installed ones and uninstall it.
Does Seawall block YouTube ads?
No. YouTube serves ads from the same servers as the videos, so DNS can’t tell them apart. We’d rather say so up front.
Do I need to install an app?
No. Seawall isn’t an ad block app for Android or iPhone: Android needs Private DNS, iPhone and Mac need a profile, computers and routers need one setting.
How do I block ads on my iPhone or iPad?
Install the Seawall profile: download it on the device, open Settings › Profile Downloaded and tap Install. Ads from ad networks then stop loading in Safari and in apps, on Wi-Fi and mobile data. Ads inside YouTube videos stay, because DNS can’t separate them from the video.
Is there a free plan?
Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial, no card needed. If you only want ads blocked, use the free public address without an account: it has no settings, statistics or family profiles.
How many devices can I connect?
Personal covers unlimited devices on one profile. Family adds up to 6 profiles, for example one per child. A router counts as one device and protects everything connected to it.
Does Seawall work on mobile data and public Wi-Fi?
Yes. Private DNS on Android and the profile on iPhone, iPad and Mac work on any network: mobile data, a café or a hotel. A router setup covers only the devices on that router’s network.
Will Seawall slow down my internet?
No. A DNS lookup takes milliseconds, and pages without ads load faster. Seawall servers are in countries.
What if a website stops working?
Add it to your allow list in your account or pause protection for 10 minutes.
Can I choose what to block or add my own rules?
Yes. In your account you can block or allow any site, turn categories and services on or off, and pause protection when you need to.
Does it work on smart TVs, streaming boxes and game consoles?
Most smart TVs and streaming boxes take a DNS address in their network settings, and Fire TV has it in the advanced Wi-Fi settings. Roku, game consoles and anything else without DNS settings are covered when you set Seawall on your router.
What is a DNS ad blocker?
A DNS ad blocker filters the addresses your devices look up. When an app or a page asks for an ad or tracking server, Seawall doesn’t give out its address, so the ad never loads. One setting covers every app and browser on the device: that is DNS ad blocking, which people also call DNS adblock.
How is a DNS ad blocker different from a browser extension?
An extension works only inside its own browser. A DNS ad blocker covers the whole device: apps, games and every browser, and through your router the whole home network.
Is Seawall like Pi-hole?
Both block ads at the DNS level for every device. Pi-hole runs on a computer you set up and maintain at home. Seawall runs on our servers, so there is nothing to maintain, and it also works on mobile data away from home.
What is private DNS?
DNS is the internet’s address book: before an app opens a site, it asks DNS where the server is. Private DNS sends these questions over an encrypted connection, DNS-over-TLS or DNS-over-HTTPS, to a server you choose, such as Seawall. Android calls it Private DNS; iPhone and Mac use a profile.
What does “Private DNS server cannot be accessed” mean?
Android shows this when it can’t reach the address in Private DNS. Check that your Seawall address is typed exactly, without https:// or spaces. If a public Wi-Fi blocks encrypted DNS, switch to mobile data or set Private DNS to Automatic while you’re on that network.
How do I set up parental controls on my child’s phone?
Create a child profile in your account, choose the rules and connect the phone. Then limit changes with Screen Time on iPhone or approve apps with Family Link on Android, and set Seawall up on your router too.
Can my child turn Seawall off?
Only if they can change the settings on their phone. Screen Time on iPhone limits what they can change. Family Link on Android can’t lock Private DNS, so set Seawall up on your router too: your home network stays filtered either way. Seawall also blocks known proxy services and other DNS providers that kids use to get around filters.
Can I protect my whole office?
Yes. Set Seawall as the DNS server on the office router and every device on the network is covered. Several offices get separate profiles: start a free pilot on the business page.
What data does Seawall see?
The names of the sites your devices connect to. We use them only for filtering, and the query log is off by default.
Where is my data stored? Is Seawall GDPR-compliant?
Your account and, if you turn it on, your query log are stored in the EU, in Germany. Seawall follows the GDPR: you can download or delete your data in your account at any time, and businesses can sign a data processing agreement.
What happens when the trial ends?
We remind you two days before it ends. If you don’t choose a plan, filtering stops and your devices keep working as usual. Your settings are kept for 30 days.
How do I cancel, and can I get a refund?
In your account, under Subscription. Protection stays on until the end of the paid period. Yearly plans can be refunded within 30 days.
